Technical Officer – Engineering, Testing & Operations Support

We are looking for a proactive and adaptable person to support our engineering team and wider business operations, with an initial focus on technical compliance.

This role will include a mix of technical support, field testing coordination, project administration, logistics, documentation, and general operational support. The successful candidate will also support technical compliance activities, prepare and maintain project documentation, contribute to the development of technical manuals and product risk assessments, and assist with commercial business opportunities as required.

Key responsibilities

  • Support engineering and prototype development activities

  • Assist with planning, coordinating, and running field tests

  • Prepare, organise, and maintain technical and project documentation

  • Track actions, deadlines, and follow-ups across projects

  • Coordinate materials, equipment, suppliers, and logistics

  • Help maintain project records, test results, and reporting

  • Support day-to-day operational tasks across the business

  • Assist with media, updates, and communications where needed

  • Work closely with the founders to keep priorities moving and unblock execution

  • Take ownership of practical tasks and make sure nothing important gets dropped

What we’re looking for

  • Highly organised and detail-oriented

  • Practical, hands-on, and comfortable working in a fast-moving startup

  • Able to manage multiple tasks and priorities at once

  • Strong communication skills

  • Confident using standard digital tools for coordination, documentation, and reporting

  • Comfortable working across both technical and non-technical tasks

  • Self-starter who can spot what needs doing and get on with it

  • Interested in engineering, testing, hardware, or field-based project work

Desirable

  • Experience supporting engineering, product development, or field operations

  • Experience in a startup or small company environment

  • Familiarity with technical documentation, testing, or prototype support

  • Experience with social media, media coordination, or project communications

  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel for field testing if required
